Emily and Cari met while working together to help homeless dogs at a local shelter. Emily (pictured left with her dog Zuni) was fostering dogs and volunteering as the shelter’s rescue coordinator to help get dogs to safety before their time was up.
One dog in particular she was trying to get to safety needed a little extra attention. A few local dog trainers, including Cari, were called to come evaluate the dog. Cari (pictured right with her dogs Chelsea & Sadie) put in a good word for the dog but depsite our best effors, the dog never made it out of the shelter.
Not long after that, Cari began fostering as well and she and Emily became good friends. The need for a local rescue immediately became clear. The two quickly realized they had common interests and goals, and the perseverance it would take to start a rescue.
In October of 2010, All They Need is Love Animal Rescue was born, and Cari and Emily have devoted most, if not all, of their time to the animals in their care ever since. They’ve been lucky enough to be a part of many great things including:
Attending a “How to Start an Animal Sanctuary Workshop” at Best Friends Animal Society in Utah and learning the ins and outs of running a successful rescue
Receiving our 501(c)3 status and becoming a tax exempt nonprofit organization
Working with a high school volunteer program called Quixote Quest that encourages teens to make a difference in people’s lives throughout their school year, now the students can make a difference in an animal’s life as well
Taking in rescued puppy mill dogs through Best Friend’s Pup My Ride campaign
The rescue now has a fantastic group of foster homes, volunteers, and supporters who make what they do possible and we greatly appreciate everyone’s help!
